El Montgo Natural Park

It is characterized by the presence of the largest cliffs in our territory that serves as a refuge for numerous littoral ornithofauna such as the yellow-legged gull, the shag shag and the gray shearwaters. In the slender cliffs nest such emblematic species as the Bonelli's eagle, the peregrine falcon and the eagle owl. To this diversity of birds are added other groups such as mammals with the presence of the badger, the genet , the wild cat and several species of bats. The vegetation is formed by the classic Mediterranean forest of Aleppo pine with Kermes oak and mastic, but the uniqueness of its flora is it owes to the presence of several endemisms such as the holy thistle, the zamarrilla, the silene de Ifach and the Limonium dufourii. This rich natural heritage is accompanied by various archaeological sites such as the Iberian settlements of Alto de Benimaquia and Pico del Águila.
